As part of our Eastern Mediterranean cruise we stopped off at Istanbul. We pre booked a private tour for four to cover the highlights of Istanbul with The Land of Civilizations Travel. Our guide and driver was excellent. We had a full day excursion. It was an excellent day and because we were a small party we were able to see many places of interest with ease and comfort. I spent a day in Istanbul with my family of 4 and my 2 grandparents in late November of 2013. We knew going into the city that there was going to be too much to see in one day. This being said, the driver fit in all of our requests and we still got back to the ship on time, even though one of the requests (the trans-continental subway) was completely out of the way of the regular tours. The driver was extremely nice and definitely knew his stuff. He took us to Suleiman's Mosque, Hagia Sofia, the trans-continental subway, the Grand Bazaar, the Sultan's Palace, and brought us to the outside of the Blue Mosque. He gave us a brief overview of the history of each place and went into detail when he was prompted to. When we went to the Grand Bazaar, he made sure that we would not get lost by teaching us how to navigate it easily. We just returned from a week in Istanbul. There were six of us in our group.
